On May 14, 2025, the Prampram Technical Institute hosted an empowering event, "Women Who Inspire Us," featuring a panel of remarkable women who shared their stories, experiences, and insights to inspire and motivate the young students.
The panel, moderated by the lovely Miss Winnie Eni Adomako, included:
Madam Agnes Otoo, a mental health nurse and municipal focal person for mental health Ningo-Prampram, who spoke about the importance of mental health and how menstrual periods can affect teenagers' self-esteem and sense of belonging. She encouraged the students to view menstruation as a natural occurrence and not let it hold them back from pursuing their goals and building their mental health.

Madam Elsselah Mensah, a facilitator at FC Beauty College and CEO of Beauty Changes Lives Charity Foundation, who shared a heartwarming story of a plus-size student who overcame self-doubt and emerged as the overall best student in her year group. Madam Elsselah emphasized the importance of believing in oneself and breaking down barriers to achieve success.

Madam Elizabeth Patterson, the founder of GEIG, who shared her inspiring life story of breaking barriers as the first-born female in her family. She spoke about her experiences as a trailblazer in her family and community, highlighting the importance of perseverance and determination. Madam Elizabeth applied the theme of the program “Breaking Barriers” to her life story and how she has been the first in many instances.
She shared; “ I am the first-born child in my family and the first daughter and child of both of my parents.
How is this significant or worthy of mention?
As the eldest child, there's a lot of expectations of you. I was expected to lead, to set positive examples for my siblings. I was the first to graduate from high school and college in my family. Those journeys were not all smooth. I was in a car accident in my junior year of high school. So I had to persevere and complete high school coursework through my recovery. I equally went to college and completed my master's degree with challenges. And yet I was the first in my family to graduate with those degrees. I was the first of my siblings to have children. This gave me the responsibility of raising my children well to be exemplary to the children of my sister. I was the first Vlisco ambassador from the Ashanti region. With this achievement and representation, "I paved the way for what's possible."
At the climax of the program, she called out to students to come forward and make a pledge to stand out and break barriers wherever they found themselves. Three (3) students, Priscilla Williams, Rubatu Abudu and Augustine pledged to stand up for themselves and break barriers. These students who pledged to make a difference are likely to become leaders and change-makers in their communities, inspiring others to strive for excellence.

The event was an interactive and educative experience, with the panelists encouraging the students to think about the barriers they can break in their own lives. The "Women Who Inspire Us" event at Prampram Technical Institute was a resounding success, inspiring the young students to believe in themselves, overcome obstacles, and strive for excellence. The stories shared by the panelists served as a reminder that with determination and perseverance, anything is possible.
