Read to Grow (RTG) is a weekly literacy and mentorship program by Girls Education Initiative of Ghana (GEIG)designed to nurture a strong reading culture among children and adolescents.

RTG provides a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where young learners strengthen their reading, comprehension, and communication skills while developing a lifelong love for books.

Through guided reading sessions, storytelling, vocabulary enrichment, interactive discussions, and mentorship activities, participants are encouraged to think critically, express themselves confidently, and engage meaningfully with literature. The program also integrates writing exercises and moral reflections to promote creativity, discipline, and character development.

Beyond literacy improvement, RTG fosters confidence, self-expression, and community involvement in education. With dedicated facilitators and volunteers supporting each session, the program ensures that every child receives the encouragement and academic support needed to grow.

At GEIG, we believe that when children read, they grow in knowledge, confidence, and opportunity.

THE RTG ACCELERATOR PROGRAM

Reading is an essential skill for children, and this model platform provides a roadmap on how to ignite a love of reading in children. Whether a child is a reluctant reader or an enthusiastic bookworm, this platform will help them enjoy the process of reading and become more confident in their abilities through the fun-infused educative activities on it.

The virtual platform by GEIG is known as ‘THE RTG ACCELERATOR PROGRAM (RAP)’. This platform aims to help children develop critical thinking and analytical skills, improve their comprehension of texts, and expand their vocabulary. It also aims to motivate them to read for pleasure and develop an appreciation for literature. The virtual platform will be accessible for different learners and will offer resources to educators and parents.
